Bed rest and prolonged rest were previously very popular treatments for low back pain. However, we now know that people with low back pain who remain active do better in the long-term. In fact, it appears that the longer a person stays in bed because of low back pain, the worse their pain, disability and ability to work becomes.

Types of back pain

  • Subacute back pain can come on suddenly or over time and lasts 4 to 12 weeks.

  • Chronic back pain may come on quickly or slowly and lasts longer than 12 weeks and occurs daily.

Who Can Register?

  • Worsening pain when resting, sitting, walking, or standing.
